Are stolen guns insta-checked?

Guns are often purchased by straw buyers for profit and then sold to criminals that could not pass NICS themselves. Or do you believe Eric Holder is now telling dealers to sell guns to criminals as well as Mexican drug gangs?

The fact is the criminal is generally not the legal owner - so any registration or database would be wrong.
