Most of the people I know with concealed carry permits have them because their business requires them to do something where they need to protect themselves. They might be around small valuable things, or they might have to be in dangerous urban areas, or go snooping around at night when an alarm goes off, or have to hike alone in the woods.

It's not the gun that puts them in danger, it's the job.
