I'm sure the law will be that it will be kept private.

I don't think it takes much imagination for a shopping list (gun database) to be sold by a government employee does it?

If you're arguing that it's going to be made public one way or another, then you could say the same thing about credit card numbers, social security numbers, and home addresses. They're all going to be made public one way or another, so why let anyone keep a record of them?

What list of guns existing now is going to "be made public one way or another"?
