If the site is only valuable to the people who post here, why haven't we been willing to pay for the service? If it is only valuable to the members/enthusiasts here, maybe SI owners version XI.0 should be the SI user community forming a co-op and buying the site. That way we never have to worry about it changing hands again.

We've been lucky that the site has had such benevolent owners all of these years. We basically got to use the best user interface around for nothing. Why shouldn't the new owner try to turn a profit? Isn't that what this country is all about. You would think that a community based on investing would get this one simple point.

Before you go, can you please explain what value the servers and software ever had beyond the willingness of a dedicated core of serious investment junkies to keep posting here? WTF is this site apart from those people? Fancy servers and bells and whistles in the software? Every new owner who ever came along was going to razzle dazzle and make something new and shiny, and NOTHING ever lasted except the faithful core of people who ARE SI. If we aren't here posting tomorrow morning, this site is just a ghost town. But no, now we get ownership generation X.0 to try it all again.

And no one who ever owned the place ever seemed to give a flying flip about that at all. So queue the revolving door for the next iteration of the Great New Thing brought to you by the Next Great Owner who believes that reinventing the hardware and software will unleash the REAL SI somehow.

Jeez, WTF, sixteen years later and nobody gets it?

Incredible. Just flipping incredible.
