Since we are just dancing with hypotheticals, a managing board of serious investors could elect to ban all political threads anyway. Wouldn't be a great loss since many of the most abusive posters on SI steer clear of most investment threads anyway. As for content and the forum, there are many forums on the Internet where a similar experience could be created. But if management values the current members and content - presumably they do unless they plan a total overhaul, in which case buying SI makes little sense instead of doing a greenfields operation - then we are not just chickens who should be grateful that the farmer provides a coop and some chicken feed now and then. Far from it. We'll see how the latest generation handles it. But I can already guess the story well in advance. Doesn't have a happy ending.
