Navel gazing.

The Holocene and all its associated conditions has been pretty comfortable for us and the many species we depend on. Pointing out past extremes isn't helpful unless it's to define conditions we don't want.

I like the Holocene. If we're diverging from there, that's going to be a rough road and worth noting. As Bart's charts very often illustrate, absolute values often aren't what matter. Rate of change does.
