They always ship more iPhone in the December quarter than the March quarter. What's been amazing is the way that Apple has been able to keep the March numbers from slumping harder during the March quarter. However, they always save new iPhone sales for China in the March quarter which makes their numbers look better than the competition.

If everyone is right about the March slowdown, it's already been beaten to death. Apple has been underperforming the market for almost 4 months now since the September peak. Good, bad or indifferent, March guidance is only 2 hours away. Then again, great December results are only 2 hours away. Whatever the case, Apple will walk away with an extra $17 billion in cash this quarter, less dividends. That gets them close to $140 billion in cash.

Underneath all the FUD, Apple is sitting on a warchest of capital with absolutely no debt. I just hope they put some of that money to work sooner rather than later.
