Apple needs misses…

…and crises, and scandals.

In the absence of these it just become a great, big, dull money machine…and where's the volatility in that?

Its interesting that stock prices are valued on future expectations.

I can see expectations for Google PE 23. Its unlikely they will be displaced in search or maps. Their core businesses would be hard to duplicate or beat. Only Apple has a chance to duplicate the usefulness of maps and SIRI still has promise. I can see a promise of better numbers for Google in the future. They keep trying on new products. They might fail on 100 before they hit on one decent one but developing software is relatively cheap.

Amazon? PE 3281. WHY? This one is inexplicable. Walmart, HomeDepot both have order online pick up in store. I usually buy Amazon but... not always. Its just a hop skip and a jump for Walmart to imitate and exceed Amazon. Cloud servers is a razor thin profit business. Plenty of talent out there in that area. Servers are cheap.

In my heart I think they can. I think they made some mistakes, hopefully mistakes that can be rectified. I still have faith that Jobs set up a good team.
If Tim Cook is the man I think he is, this year was a big learning experience for him, and the mistakes that were made will only serve to motivate him to do better going forward.
