TWO RELEASES, BELOW:

Headline: Business Objects Joins Forces with Microsoft to Improve
Repository-Based Data

======================================================================
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 3, 1997--Business
Objects (NASDAQ:BOBJY), the world's leading provider of integrated
enterprise decision support tools, today announced that it is
participating with Microsoft in the design of its repository-based
data warehouse extensions.
The open process begins today with Microsoft collecting formal
feedback from Independent Software Vendors and interoperability
partners.
Business Objects provides direct access to Microsoft's Repository
via its flagship product, BusinessObjects, the industry's leading
integrated query, reporting and online analytical processing (OLAP)
tool. The latest release of the company's flagship product,
BusinessObjects 4.1, has been awarded the "Designed for Windows NT
and Windows 95" and "Office 95 and Office 97 Compatible" logos. The
company is a charter member of the Microsoft Alliance for Data
Warehousing.
Today, Business Objects customers can leverage metadata from
other vendors using a common, open interface. This will be extended
by Microsoft's Repository extensions, which will give customers one
set of metadata to maintain and a common infrastructure for better
interoperability between data transformation and business
intelligence tools like BusinessObjects.
"Business Objects continues to be an early adopter of Microsoft
products and strategies," said Joe Brown, product manager for data
warehousing at Microsoft Corporation. "We look forward to our
continued relationship and our mutual goal of sharing metadata
through the support of a common repository to significantly reduce
the cost and complexity of administering data warehouse systems."
"Business Objects is the leader in enterprise-scale decision
support. In enterprise deployments, both ease of use and total cost
of ownership (TCO) are key. Our receipt of both Office 95 and Office
97 Compatible logos is one demonstration of our commitment to ease of
use," said Dave Kellogg, vice president of corporate marketing at
Business Objects.
"Our commitment to providing customers with the lowest TCO is
demonstrated today by our metadata bridging capabilities. By working
together with Microsoft in the open repository design review, we will
allow customers to deploy even quicker than they do today."
Business Objects products enable non-technical users to access
and analyze data stored in corporate data warehouses, data marts, and
packaged applications. Business Objects offers both a full-client
suite of DSS tools including BusinessObjects, BusinessMiner, and
BusinessQuery, as well as its new thin-client solution,
WebIntelligence. BusinessObjects and WebIntelligence are Microsoft
BackOffice-certified.

About Microsoft Repository

Microsoft Repository was designed to be used by multiple products
from various vendors. The repository is a database that stores and
shares software components along with their descriptive information.
More than a database, however, the repository creates and manages the
relationships between the items it contains.
It delivers important capabilities to desktop and environments in
five key areas: reuse, tool interoperability, team development, data
management and dependency tracking. Microsoft Repository consists of
the Open Information Model, a set of published COM interfaces, and an
engine sits on top of a relational database, such as Microsoft SQL
Server.

Headline: Latest Release of BusinessObjects Passes Key Microsoft Logo
Compatibility Tests

======================================================================
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 3, 1997--

BusinessObjects 4.1 Receives Designed for Office 97, Windows NT,
and Windows 95 Compatibility Logos

Business Objects (NASDAQ:BOBJY), the world's leading provider of
integrated enterprise decision support tools, today announced that
the latest release of its flagship product, BusinessObjects(TM) 4.1,
has been awarded the "Designed for Windows NT and Windows 95" and
"Office 97 Compatible" logos.
BusinessObjects 4.1 was evaluated by Microsoft's independent
testing facility, VeriTest, and successfully passed the rigorous
compatibility tests. The "Office 97 Compatible" testing verifies
that BusinessObjects looks and works like Microsoft products, and
covers user interface features including basic menus, accelerator
keys, toolbars, dialogue boxes, pop-up menus and new support for
Intellimouse and hyper-text markup language (HTML). The "Designed
for Windows NT and Windows 95" testing includes verification that
BusinessObjects installs and uninstalls automatically and completely,
multi-tasks with other applications, doesn't override key system
components, and uses standard interfaces.
"The Microsoft Office Compatible logo was developed to help
customers easily identify software products that were designed
specifically to look like and work well with Microsoft Office. This
consistency and integration makes it easier for end users to learn
and use a broad range of software products," said David Jennings,
Office Product Manager at Microsoft. "Because BusinessObjects has
the look and feel of Office products, customers can leverage their
existing computer knowledge and more quickly deploy decision support
tools across the enterprise."
"Customers tell us that ease of use is one of the most important
criteria in successful enterprise decision support deployments,"
said Dave Kellogg, vice president of corporate marketing at Business
Objects. "That's why the Microsoft compatibility verification of our
software is so important. Most business people have experience with
Windows and Microsoft Office programs. The fact that BusinessObjects
4.1 has all the right Microsoft compatibility logos verifies that
it's easier for end users to learn and use, and easier for IS to set
up and deploy. BusinessObjects 4.1 is the obvious choice for the
enterprise."

Headline: Business Objects Named to Prestigious 1998 Database Dozen List

======================================================================
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 10, 1997--

Business Objects Named to Database Programming & Design
Magazine's List of Top Twelve Companies that Define the
Direction of the Database Industry

Business Objects (NASDAQ:BOBJY), the world's leading provider of
integrated enterprise decision support tools, today announced that it
has been named to the prestigious Database Dozen list by Database
Programming and Design magazine.
This annual listing identifies 12 companies that "define the
direction of the database industry," according to the editors of the
publication.
Business Objects is the only front-end decision support tools
vendor on the 1998 Database Dozen list. The other companies named to
this list are: IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, Sun, Sybase, EMC, NCR, SAS,
Rational, Computer Associates, and Informix. The Database Dozen list
can be seen in the special Industry in Focus issue of Database
Programming and Design or by visiting the magazine's web site at
dbpd.com .
In recognizing Business Objects, the editors state that Business
Objects is "a leader in driving DSS ease of use ... from the
beginning, the company had its eyes on the business user. Its
BusinessObjects product buried SQL under a drag-and-drop interface;
it gained a quick and widespread following."
Moving forward, the editors point to the new web DSS product from
Business Objects, WebIntelligence. The editors state, "(In 1997)
... the most important addition was WebIntelligence, which opened
up the BusinessObjects architecture to web-based query, reporting,
and analysis. With a query applet written in Java, Business Objects
established itself as the first vendor to offer an ambitious set of
DSS functionality for the Internets, intranets, and extranets."
The editors continue, "WebIntelligence is central to Business
Objects' goal: to become a broad-based supplier of front-end DSS
tools. The more IT managers can standardize a thin-client,
browser-based DSS interface, the more time they can devote to getting
the network and data warehouse infrastructure humming. Total
solutions vendors, hungry for the high-margin infrastructure
contracts, could be inclined to resell WebIntelligence to make the
front end nice and simple. Suddenly, Business Objects could be
everywhere."
"We are extremely honored to be selected for this year's Database
Dozen and to be in the company of such a prestigious list of industry
leaders," said Bernard Liautaud, president and CEO of Business
Objects. "This is a very exciting time -- both for Business Objects
and for the industry -- and we look forward to continuing to work with
our customers to deliver decision support throughout the enterprise."
The Database Dozen Awards are presented annually by Database
Programming and Design Magazine, the premier publication in the
database industry. Celebrating its 10th year of publication,
Database Programming and Design covers database issues and
technologies related to large databases such as data warehousing,
data mining, database development, object relational databases, and
the future direction of the database industry. The magazine is part
of the United News & Media's Miller Freeman group of high tech
publications.
