TJ, rather than cold fusion, there is con fusion about where cars and their motive power are going.

It's easier to turn lead and mercury into platinum and gold, or even iron into platinum than get cold fusion going. Just kick out a proton or two from lead and mercury and hey presto, instant gold and platinum. Or glom three irons together and hey presto, instant platinum. The process could be combined with a power station to generate electricity.

With Qualcomm's Halo, cars will need no platinum. With Google's autocar technology they won't need drivers either. Taxis will be autocars. Very cheap. People won't need or want their own cars. for around town.

Another company with similar goals, the billionaire-backed Planetary Resources, unveiled its own plans last April.

Both companies can coexist and prosper, Deep Space officials said during a press conference today.
