Do not ruin my illusions; they are what keep me going these last few years of parenting-the promise of an elegant and stylish future dining hour. I have drawers full of elaborate recipes clipped and waiting, silk lounging pajamas at the ready, CD's of Baroque chamber music still in cellophane, and sometimes I even polish the silver in anticipation (but only rarely). I may even let Dan smoke his pipe in the house, just for the ambiance. But only if he wears a velvet smoking jacket. A 49ers t-shirt. Please. This is not how I pictured my loveslave in his off-hours.
