I would not want to be on an isolated farm, waiting for the crisis, which could take quite a few years to materialize, and maybe never happen,and in the meantime one has squandered one's career opportunities and burned up ones savings...all while living in fear...
Good points all Robin but it depends on the level of trouble. A societal collapse might be corrected in a few months or years but an upper mantle plume might wipe out half the world and send the other half back to the stone age. There is only so many bags of chips and bottles of water you can store to provide for you and yours. If Yellowstone explodes I would prefer ring side seats than be 500 miles away.
