Stockmaan; re Presario From what I have read and heard on publicy available sourecs and comments, (no inside knowledge) Compaq makes more profit on a $1000 machine that the business models. I would venture thats a good reason to make them! Joe C

stockman, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO presario is a line of computers..it's not just the 799 pc. and cpq isn't going to put the AMD chip in the 2200. I'm on a presario at home...now. it's a p200 presario. and the kids had a p75 presario... they are great and they have an intel chip in them. So, that is it..you assumed that the presario 799 was all of them. I said " I would not buy a 799 pc". It wasn't geared or marketed to me. I would buy a p266 loaded presario in about 12 month for $999. but, I will not need a pc then.two pcs is enough. SO< YOU WERE INCORRECT...I NEVER SAID I WOULDN'T BUY A PRESARIO AT HOME SINCE I'VE HAVE TWO NOW AND WILL BUY ANOTHER IN ABOUT 3 YRS. I said I wouldn't buy a 799 pc. and that isn't the pc targeted for the amd chip....... As far as the real issue with presario... send me an email and I'll send you the answer. I'll have my eamil in my profile for a day so you can do it. Also, quit being so emotional about amd, cyrx and intel. no reason to be.....and if you think the intel would have prices this low on processors w/o cyrx and amd then you need a head job<ggg>

stockman, the Ex-SQE (supplier quailty engr.) works right down the hall from me in engring. He was a SQE involeved with presarios. we aren't at cpq now but he knows every little dittley on the presario...and he had my jaw on the ground...... I also, reread your post and thinking about your other posts to me. I need a head job myself... there is no way I trust you in an email on the real scoop in presarios... so, forget it..... you would blab it all over the airwaves. I might reveal it to people I trust???? so, my email can still show up.
