Apple has over $ 90B overseas, and there is a dilemma how to bring it back without paying a 35% repatriation tax.
I (also) wonder if Apple could use the overseas cash to buy back shares from overseas, and not pay repatriation tax. The overseas subsidiaries would then own shares, which they would just sit on, unless there is a way the shares could be cancelled. When a USA company buys back shares directly, I think they normally cancel those shares.
