Stockman

Actually I own over 4 times as much Cisco as I do 3COM.

3Com has made me a lot of money in the past and it will in the future.

All the best

Eric

<<Given two stocks CSCO and COMS with the same forward P/E, which one would one buy? COMS is facing intense competitve challenges from Intel, both in modems and NICs.>>

You don't think CSCO faces competitive pressures - all networkers do. To date, CSCO has shown that they are operating from a position of strength and have done a good job of not only fending off the competition but steamrolling the dying - CS, BAY, XYLN, SHVA, etc. I do not include COMS as one of the dying.

However - do some research on the CB3500 and CB9000 products and compare price performance with CSCO's cash cow 7500 router. Also COMS
has other stuff still to come which will make the Catalyst 5500 look overpriced and outdated. CSCO may hang on to the accounts but through heavier discounts or new products that carry a lower selling price. Either way it means the potential for reduced margins or reduced top line/bottom line.

This won't be an overnight phenomenon, but I don't think CSCO is immune to what COMS is going through.
