She was referring to health insurance companies. You are correct in your assumption that after they get done socializing the healthcare industry they could move on to auto insurance etc. Can you imagine socialized auto insurance with guaranteed issue?

I believe more than an insignificant minority might know what von Mises was referring to if they knew of the reference:

"thought they witnessed the finger of God benignly stirring the pot where freedom exists. "

How could any religious person not want freedom for all of humanity?

von Mises cited deeply religious predecessors who thought they witnessed the finger of God benignly stirring the pot where freedom exists.

Ludwig von Mises was very deep. He learned from the best and schooled the rest.
