Too often those who feel the call to serve a higher master become susceptible to thinking that man has an obligation to care for his fellow man. They fail to realize that each of us is responsible for our successes and for our failures. When the leader of the flock is pushing pablum it is easy for the sheep to drink the koolaid. An effective religious leader can have a large impact on the thinking of people beyond their own flock. Just look at one minor cleric in Egypt who preached about a Youtube video that portrayed the evil way that muslims treat minority Coptic Christians and it caused riots throughout the Middle East. He even caused Libyans who were innocently strolling around Benghazi with their mortars and RPGs to riot and overrun the American Embassy. ;-) Some denominations are more prone to whacko leftwing rants from the pulpit than others.
