If those rioters had not been trying to do serious injury to or kill the soldiers stopping them, there wouldn't have been a problem. The rioters were not unarmed, they just used less effective weapons than those they were trying to attack. Recommendation - do not attack people with better weapons as they are likely to retaliate. You were obviously confused to think they were unarmed, or maybe you don't know how much damage a brick in the side of your head can do.

A shame it wasn't Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness who were in the firing line. They tried to bomb me and did succeed in bombing some NZ tourists in the Tower of London. Their buddies murdered a big crowd at Omagh. en.wikipedia.org

Might as well forget about it. There's plenty to be going on with. Defaming soldiers who were defending themselves isn't very useful. <14 unarmed civilians murdered by the British parachute regiment in Derry 41 years ago today. > That description is certainly not what happened. "We were out picnicking in the park when a bunch of soldiers drove up and started shooting us." The particular people who were shot perhaps did not have guns, but were armed with bricks and stuff and the mob was apparently armed. Neither is it murder to shoot in self-defence.

What is the USA going to do with umpty billion bullets they have apparently bought? That might be more interesting than a bunch of IRA thugs being dealt with mid way through last century. The British are positively genteel compared with the USA approach to such armed insurrection.

Will the USA use Blackhawks and straff the mob on Pennsylvania Avenue? The gun that Martin McGuinness had is nothing compared with the artillery that can come out of USA houses during armed insurrection.

Never forget Bloody Sunday!
Tom don’t be a hyphenated American. You have absolutely zero in common with anything Irish outside of your ancestors landing on these shores like mine did in starvation ships. I feel nothing but pity and sorrow for the poor stupid Irish who mistakenly believed being Catholic was going to lighten their load and shine a light on their path. It has led to centuries of repression and crimes. In their efforts to be good Catholics they forget the entire construct was an invention of the Holy Roman Empire. The Italians had no such problem viewing Catholic pageantry as a comedy. Irish made very good Picts and Woads but mighty poor papists. Unfortunately the stubborn Irish hate the English too much to give up their errant ways.
