U.S. rig count up 58 to 1005 in week
NEW YORK, Dec 3 (Reuters) - The number of rigs exploring for oil and natural gas in the United States stood at 1,005 as of November 26, up 58 from the prior week, and 144 above the year-ago total of 861, Baker Hughes Inc [NYSE:BHI - news] reported.
The number of rigs drilling on land rose by 55 to 855, while rigs working offshore rose three to 129. The number of rigs active in inland waters remained at 22.

Among the individual states, the biggest changes occurred in Texas, up by 22, in Louisiana, up 12, and Wyoming, up ten.

The Gulf of Mexico rig count rose three to 127.

A total of 371 rigs were exploring for crude oil, up 29 from last week. The number of rigs searching for gas also rose 29 to 630, while the number of miscellaneous drilling projects remained at four.

There were 227 rigs drilling directionally, 61 drilling horizontally and 717 drilling vertically.

In Canada, the number of working rigs rose by 14 to 473, versus 349 one year ago.

The weekly rig count reflects the number of rigs exploring for oil and gas, not those producing oil and gas.

LT, I have 34.5 for NE tomorrow for the early morning high if we have a strong surge at the open (likely). Performance after that will depend on the whole sector. Did NE touch 33 as high today?

Let me tell you something, LT, you and Jim are two of the most optimistic, die-hard, never-say-die, married-for-life kind of investors. That is, of course, you married to NE and he married to ESV.
