Just as WWII followed the Great Depression of the 1930s and that war helped jumpstart the economy and paved the way to a new era of prosperity for the US (from 1945 to ca. early 1960s),

so I believe a war will happen soon following the current economic failures of recent years. But, this time, it will not help the US escape from its economic woes. Times and conditions have changed drastically for the worse.
