Timing is everything. SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN December 1997 issue.

"Metal Clusters and Magic Numbers" "Investigations of tiny lumps of metal can help bridge the gap in physists'understanding of the difference between iolated atoms and bulk solids."

The article goes on to explain how a piece of metal heated until it evaporates will condence into a few to several thousand atoms of the metal. These metal clusters smaller than "drops of water or grains of sand" constitute.................ect. The process works both ways.

Great article - this is the technology that we will be hearing a lot more of in the near future. I'd like to get the Dr. Johnson and Ledoux opinion the report.

This article is a must read.

I have a copy of the article and it's called "Metal Clusters and Magic Numbers". It does not refer to Dessert Dirts in any way, but does explain some of the complexities of dealing with Micro Fine lumps of metal and what happens when they get bigger. The properties of metals do not become apparent until there are certain sized clumps. The article is complex in nature as are the process we have been reading about.
