I certainly appreciate your perspective regarding identifying - and profiting from - what one is smart enough to discern and capitalize on. More credit to you ....

My comments are more macroscopic in nature ...

Another thing that kills me is how the media has changed the public discourse by defining equivalence between "what is good for the banks is good for the country". This mentality really began and was cemented with the TARP fiasco ...

There is far too little discussion about the medium and smaller sized banks. Everything in terms of health of the banking industry is couched in terms of the big banks. The medium and smaller sized banks are getting seriously squeezed and their assets are being taken over to make the big banks even bigger. This is BS. What should have happened in 2008 was to let the profligate big banks who got themselves in trouble go under and let the medium and smaller sized banks fill the void. That would have been free market capitalism. Instead, the taxpayer got raped - free money sent to the big banks - who are basically pissing it away as fast as they get it.

Moral hazard to the max - no incentive to do what is right. Banks are encouraged to just incur additional risk with the expectation of being bailed out in the future. Or else steal as much as you can when you can - get out - and hope the statute of limitations runs out before the chit hits the fan. What an industry ...
