>Let's get one thing straight. Natural disasters, droughts, and disappearing farmland has occurred throughout all of recorded history. Hundreds of millions, if not billions, have died as a result.

>None of this was brought about with the advent of global warming. You may argue that it could be happening a little more often, but that's a hard case to prove, even then it's a weak basis for drastic anti-CO2 regulations like the kind environmentalists think we should adopt.

It's not that hard to prove at this point. And when was the last time the population of the world was reduced by 10+% over a century? That could be what we're witnessing here. Remember the "one-percent doctrine" and how it was used to make us bomb a country? The probability here is way over one percent and no one will die as a result of us taking measures to deal with it... Several big corporations may suffer some profit losses as a result, which is why there's even a "controversy" here.

>Hurricane Katrina was supposed to be the "new normal." We haven't seen another Hurricane Katrina since. Even Sandy didn't compare.

It's only been a few years. Having a Katrina once a decade instead of once a century is a BFD... And NYC's had two pretty serious hurricanes in the last two years. Has that ever happened before?
