Stockman, re:To AMD it implies that they are selling their chips at cost, which means further losses.

Judging from lack of big volume insider buying of AMD stock (stock still languishing in the low 20s) you are probably right.

Stockman - If Compaq will be selling a 233mhz 32meg AMD system for just over 1k, don't you think they might be banking on some volume?? Also, do you think Intel would be coming out with cacheless PII's next year if the boxmakers were not forcing things????

That is like cutting off your nose to spite your face. What do you think will happen when Intel comes out with new products and they are in short supply. who will get the first shipments??
