I agree that any unwelcome attention is enough to make a burglar run for it in most cases, especially when they think there could be armed protective persons around. We know the smash and grab technique ignores the attention given by an alarm because the perps wlll be long gone before the alarm is responded to by police. That is well documented in spite of your dismissals.

I actually think a family guard dog is a much better investment than an electronic alarm because it not only alarms everyone it is ready with a response on a moments notice. Of course you can have both if you want and a fire arm in back of that for personal protection.
