RE:first mover advantage

Yes, that is how I would characterize their position.

If we are back to a more consistent trading environment then there will be one more down day before a counter rally in the SP500. The intermediate uptrend is still intact. Keep in mind we are still in the thick of earnings season so news trumps technicals. I would point out that that most stocks have rallied after earnings in this first part of earnings season. Typical stocks will act oppositely in the 2nd half of earnings season.

If the DOW can hold the low of the last week and counter rally in the next few days the rally should continue.

Attempted counter rally in the DOW transport. The intermediate trend is still up.

DOW transports still moving sideways.

Russell 2000 surprising resilent since it filled the gap from yesterday without a follow through day to the downside.

Financials able to hold the bottom of the trading range from the last week, so the chances of the rally to a new high is good.

So far the rally in the energy sector is still intact.

Gold still on a sell signal.

Not a good sign that the counter rally stalled right away with an indecision day.
