Would that that be a clever move, where all exporters of oil and importers of goods into the region would seat down and quietly?

Not to mention the Chinese themselves.

More oil produced in the US, the more oil is free to power up China and Europe and elsewhere.

The less the need for US hired gun and the defense of commercial routes.
