It is funny. They think that researchers are willing to sell out their reputations and self-respect for relatively small amounts of money, yet they get offended when scientists decide that Republicans are anti-science...

First off, researchers get grants much much larger than $20K. Secondly, as to whether it's corrupting or not depends partly on the person's financial background.

As for oil co execs, they're being compensated for running a company, not for doing objective research. So it's an apples vs oranges comparison.
