This is what should be worrying you......that gun violence in this country has become so common. I am - that's why I have a concealed carry permit. I know the obama ideas will do nothing to stop criminals, even joe biden said the other day their efforts will not stop violent crime. And how do the rest of us know when the day will come when you are set off to do some random killing. Many of these people doing the killing were not criminals nor were they registered as mentally ill. They were people just like you. And even if they had record of being mentally unbalanced, they still could get guns at most gun shows without a problem. The answer isn't for all of us to arm ourselves as you all love to tell us..............we've seen how the proliferation of guns has let to increasing and not less gun violence in this country in almost every aspect of our lives. In the most civilized nations on this planet, gun ownership and usage is restricted........not stopped but restricted. Despite what the NRA claims, that's what works. For years, a lot of people....me included........looked the other way while the NRA got its way. No longer. Newtown has become a flash point..........not just because of the horror of that massacre............but because it was the event that pushed things over the top. Now I encourage all reasonable gun lovers to encourage their rep, the NRA, to help devise a plan that stops the wanton proliferation of guns in this country and works to the reduction of gun violence in our public spaces. You many find that the NRA won't listen to you all because of their dependence on the financial support of gun manufacturers so you may have to go it alone. But something has to change.
