Yet another example of people liberals want to leave unable to defend themselves.

Counting the Ways the Media Lies About the Economy
from Breitbart Feed

Pop quiz: What was the biggest news story this week? And I don't mean, what was the biggest news story according to Obama's media.

Obviously, it was the economy taking a nosedive into negative territory last quarter, along with the fact that hardly enough jobs were created last month to keep up with population growth. Oh, and the unemployment rate increased. Of course the economy is the biggest story; it affects the most people and Obama's doing it wrong.

But not only is the media never-minding the economy, much of the media coverage related to economic bad news is forever being spun into good news. A few examples…

Politico saw the jobs numbers as something that "could soothe some of the renewed economic anxiety in Washington[.]"

The AP saw the jobs numbers as proof "[t]he U.S. job market is proving sturdier than expected" and "mostly encouraging."

CBS News wants to assure all of us that the "[l]atest job numbers signal economic recovery."

Yahoo News says, "Don't Be Fooled by the GDP Report: The Economy Is Gaining Strength"

You can add all that to what we documented yesterday.

Granted, some in the media took the report a little more seriously, but they still joined the coordinated wagon-circling to ensure bad news for Obama in no way became The Narrative -- for that might damage Obama politically, and he's on a left-wing cultural rampage against those God and guns Bitter Clingers, donchaknow.

What you’re seeing from the media isn't happy talk, and it's not bias; it's shamelessly dishonest propaganda -- it's the media nakedly saying, " The chocolate ration has been increased from 30 to 25 grams per week."

How do you like these chocolate rations:

  1. Poverty's increasing.
  2. Gas prices have almost doubled.
  3. The price of health care premiums has exploded and will only explode more (but-but-but Obama said…!)
  4. Poor and middle class incomes are falling.
  5. One-in-five Americans are on food stamps.
  6. The non-partisan GAO says Obama's exploding deficit is unsustainable.
  7. Eight million people are looking for work.
  8. Our labor force has shrunk to thirty-year levels ( 170k more dropped out last month).
  9. Chronic unemployment hasn't been this bad since World War II.
  10. The long-term unemployment rate is over 14%, and if the labor force was merely the same size today as it was the day Obama took office, today's unemployment rate would be closer to 11%.

When's the last time the media talked about any of that? But what Economic Narrative does the media obsess over? Naturally, the only news that can be spun into wonderfulness for Lightbringer: Wall Street, baby!

Oh my, it's a whole new world. Suddenly the media loves the idea of the rich getting richer. But why are the rich getting richer? It's not the economy, stupid -- it's The Fed -- pumpity, pumpity, pumpity pump. It's nothing more than an ongoing boob job to take our eyes off the line for government cheese.

And after the media's done shouting squirrel at the Dow, it then turns around and lies explains that any hiccups in the economy were caused by the fact that The State didn't spend enough last quarter. If the State were bigger, more powerful, and taking more money out of the private economy The Twenties Will Roar Again!

You see, children America *furrows brow* the reason the GDP collapsed *scratches beard* is due to the fact our blessed State is not spending us into bankruptcy fast enough. It was the decrease in government spending last quarter *adjusts prescription-less smart-person glasses* that hurt our economy. But if we listen to Dear Leader *leans, forward, entwines fingers* and increase the power of The State *smiles warmly* chocolate rations will increase from 25 to 20 grams.

We're being told that, even though, uhm, federal spending increased last quarter.

Obama's abysmal record in all things not involving killing Osama bin Laden, has forced the media to move from bias into outright lying.

The media doesn’t care about the poor or the ongoing creation of Two Americas. All the media cares about is protecting The State and making sure nothing saps Obama's political power.

You see, should Obama be politically damaged, the media thinks to its wicked self, churches won't be forced to violate their conscience, the NRA might not be damaged, Bitter Clingers might keep their guns, The State might shrink, and the GOP might not be destroyed in time for Obama to control absolutely everything after 2014.

Now that the media and The State have aligned, we live in a world where the economy is good -- not because it's good -- but because the media and the White House say it's good.

So shut up and eat your chocolate, racists.

Where Not to Die In 2013

Think you don’t have to worry about estate taxes because of the new generous federal estate tax law? Not so, for families in 21 states and the District of Columbia where separate state levies are still a big concern. “For the vast majority of people who are wealthy, the fear factor of the federal estate tax is gone, but many still need to focus on state estate and inheritance taxes,” says Martin Shenkman, an estate lawyer in Paramus, N.J.

[More from Forbes: Interactive Map: The States With State Death Taxes For 2013]

What makes this extra tricky is that state estate and inheritance taxes have been in constant flux over the last decade. And it’s not just the list of states that has been changing, but in some states, the level at which the tax kicks in has been changing (both up and down). So it’s important to stay on top of this to avoid a surprise tax bill.

Thanks to the fiscal cliff tax deal (the American Taxpayer Relief Act), the federal estate tax exemption of a generous $5 million per person, indexed for inflation, is now permanent. So for 2013, up to $5.25 million of an individual’s estate will be exempt from federal estate tax, with a 40% tax rate applied to any excess over the exemption amount.

By contrast, states with estate taxes typically exempt $1 million or less per estate from their tax and impose a top rate of 16%. New York, for example, sets its exemption at $1 million. So the estate of a person dying in New York with $5.25 million would owe no federal tax, but would owe New York $420,800, calculates Donald Hamburg, an estate lawyer with Golenbock Eisenman in New York City.

Six states levy only an inheritance tax, with the rate depending on the relationship of the heir to the deceased and the taxes kicking in, in some cases, on the first dollar of bequest. Two states, Maryland and New Jersey, impose both. Maryland, for example, imposes an estate tax of up to 16% above a $1 million exemption, and a 10% inheritance tax on every dollar left to a niece, nephew, friend or partner, but no inheritance tax on money left to children, grandchildren, parents or siblings. (Any estate tax owed is reduced by the inheritance tax paid.) As in the federal system, bequests to a spouse are tax-free.

[More from Forbes: Four Ways To Beat State Death Taxes]

Lately, the trend is towards eliminating state estate taxes, or at least lessening the tax bite by increasing the amount exempt from the tax. Ohio no longer has an estate tax, effective Jan. 1, 2013 (Republican Gov. John Kasich signed the repeal law in 2011). Delaware falls off the list effective July 1, 2013 when its current temporary estate tax expires. Indiana’s inheritance tax is repealed effective Jan. 1, 2022 (Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels signed the repeal law last year).

Meanwhile in Indiana the amount that is exempt from the state inheritance tax is going up each year, from $1.25 million this year, to $2 million in 2014 and $5 million in 2015. Other states are upping their exemption amounts this year too. Maine’s exemption doubles to $2 million this year (as part of Republican Gov. Paul LePage’s budget). Rhode Island’s exemption goes up to $910,725 this year, up from $859,350 in 2 012 as it’s indexed for inflation.

Connecticut is the only state going in the other direction recently. In 2011, Connecticut lowered the amount it exempts from its tax from $3.5 million to $2 million per estate, retroactive to Jan. 1, 2011. And Illinois is the most recent state to implement an estate tax—it resurrected an estate tax in 2011 with a $2 million exemption—now $4 million as of Jan. 1, 2013.

The next state to watch out for is North Carolina. Newly elected Rep. Governor Pat McCrory made abolishing the state estate tax one of his campaign promises: “North Carolina is now the only state in the Southeast with the death tax. This tax unfairly punishes those who would inherit their loved one’s possessions or business, forcing some families to sell off a small business or family farm just to pay the tax. As governor, [I] will fight to eliminate the death tax for North Carolinians.”

[More from Forbes: A Guide To Understanding The Fiscal Cliff]

Could more states add stand-alone estate taxes? A technical provision of the federal estate tax law includes a deduction for state tax paid—instead of the pre-2001 state death tax credit, which allowed states to share in the estate tax revenue the feds collected. For states that were hoping for a return to that revenue sharing, it’s possible that they will consider adding stand-alone taxes, according to James Walschlager, a research analyst at tax publisher CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business.

Burglary Suspect in Texas Calls 911 For Help as Homeowner Holds Him at Gunpoint
2012 December 6

From FoxNews.com:

A Texas burglary suspect dialed 911 early Tuesday morning to report that an armed homeowner was threatening to shoot him, MyFoxDFW.com reported.

James Gerow, the homeowner, told the station that he awoke and discovered a man wearing a dark hoodie inside his Springtown, Texas home. Springtown is a small city Northwest of Fort Worth.

Gerow grabbed his gun and followed the man out to a truck in his driveway.

With gun in hand, Gerow convinced the man to drop his keys. He told his wife to call 911 and waited for deputies to arrive.

This is another example of a defensive gun use that won’t be included in many studies because a shot was never fired. A gun was used to bring about a peaceful resolution to the situation in which no one was hurt.

82 Year Old Homeowner Shoots 30 Year Old Intruder Who Assaulted Him

2013 January 30

On January 19th, an elderly homeowner in MO was forced to defend himself when a 30 year old suspect broke into his home and assaulted him.

The hoemowner fired a shot at the intruder, striking him in the arm.

The suspect then fled the scene, but was captured by police after a brief manhunt.

The homeowner was taken to the hospital for treatment of the injuries he sustained in the assault. The homeowner had to be airlifted to a second hospital for head injuries.

The suspect is charged with 1st degree assault and 1st degree burglary.

We wish this brave homeowner the best in his recovery. We are also glad he was armed or this story could have turned out very differently. No matter how you cut it, an 82 year old is almost always no match for a 30 year old male in good shape in hand to hand fighting. While it sounds like police responded very quickly, the suspect was still able to inflict substantial harm on the homeowner.

According to The Associated Press, a 14-year-old Phoenix boy shot an armed intruder who broke into his home at approximately 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 23. At that time, the boy was babysitting his younger siblings, ages eight, 12 and 12.

The incident started with a woman ringing the doorbell to the residence. Since the boy didn’t recognize the woman, he refused to open the door.

A short time later, the boy heard a loud bang, which he correctly assumed was someone attempting to force entry through the door. The boy gathered his siblings and hurried them upstairs as he armed himself with a handgun from his parent’s bedroom.

From the top of the stairs, the boy saw a man break open the front door. When the man pointed a gun at the boy, the boy shot the man. The man did not fire his weapon.

The man was subsequently transported to a local hospital in extremely critical condition. Since the shooting, the man’s status has been upgraded to critical and he is expected to survive. The man, whose identity has been withheld, can look forward to being booked into jail on charges of aggravated assault and burglary. The woman who rang the doorbell remains at large.

FOX 10 News – Phoenix, AZ | KSAZ-TV

Phoenix Police Officer James Holmes praised the boy’s actions and his parents for teaching the boy not to open the door to a stranger.

“The police and indeed our community does not ever want to see a situation where a teenager of that age has to take a weapon to protect his family … but this young man did exactly what he should have done,” Holmes said. “I’m not sure he gave full thought about what he had to do. He just acted.”

Holmes summed up the incident by saying, “As ugly as this is, and as much as this family is going through, we don’t have injured children on our hands.”

Obviously, this investigation is ongoing.

“This was mid-block in a neighborhood, at 4:30 in the afternoon and children are there. They took a heck of a gamble for this particular house, and we’ve got to try to figure out why,” said Holmes.

Without question, the 14-year-old boy in this story acted not only appropriately. but heroically. I’m not sure how many trained adults would have responded as well to this terrifying ordeal.

The boy was smart to not open the door when the woman rang the doorbell, but that was a decision made under a relatively low degree of stress. Most parents would expect their 14-year-old child to make that decision.

Where this kid’s grace under pressure took center stage is when he realized someone was trying to break through the front door. The boy first thought of protecting his younger siblings and did so by moving them upstairs, away from the threat. Next, the boy retrieved a handgun from his parent’s room, and when faced with a deadly threat, used the handgun appropriately to stop that threat. It’s not clear whether this very brave 14-year-old was relying purely in instinct or if he had received training. Either way, his actions saved the day.

Police: Woman Shot Intruder 9 Times In Self Defense

Why would Democrats prefer this woman be raped and murdered? I know they're the Criminal Party but are they bereft of all humanity and compassion?

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. —

An intruder who was shot and killed after a confrontation with a Duluth woman in her shower was likely stalking her for days and may have other victims, Gwinnett police said. Police: Woman Shot Intruder 9 Times In Self Defense School Counselor Shoots, Kills Home Intruder

The 53-year-old woman, who is also a veteran private school counselor, was alone at the time of the Wednesday morning attack. She lives on East Mount Tabor Circle in Duluth.

The woman was getting out of the shower when she was met by a strange man with a kitchen knife, police said. They said there was a struggle in the bathroom, and she fell in the tub. Police later identified the man as Israel Perez Puentes, a Cuban national who lived in Alpharetta.

"The male was armed with a kitchen knife, a struggle ensued between the two of them. She fell in the bathtub injuring herself," Gwinnett police spokesman Edwin Ritter said.

The woman tried to fight the man off with a shower a rod, and he forced her into her bedroom, police said. They said she told her attacker she had money in the room. But she grabbed a .22-caliber handgun and shot the man nine times, police said.

Police said the man ran out of a back door and collapsed in the yard. He later died at the Gwinnett Medical Center. The victim, who was injured in the scuffle, was also taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Police have not released her name.

Police told Channel 2's Kerry Kavanaugh they don't know why the woman was targeted.

"He may have seen her somewhere and he identified her as being a potential victim and he basically stalked her until he found the right moment to act on it," said Ritter.

"Our department is looking into any other cases around metro atlanta area as well as our jurisdiction to see if he may be involved with any other sexual assaults that may have occurred."

Dan Tucker, a friend and neighbor, said he was amazed at how the victim defended herself against the armed intruder.

"She's smart, she's witty and obviously well prepared," Tucker said.

Ritter said the shooting investigation was ongoing but defended the victim, saying the shooting appeared to be justified, and that she acted in self-defense. He said there are no plans to charge her.

Police said Thursday that neighbors had spotted Puentes' car in the neighborhood several days before the attack but did not report it. Puentes' estranged wife told Kavanaugh he had been arrested for burglary in Johns Creek in December.

'Stay Put or I'll Shoot,' Woman Warns Girl's Assailant

PAUL NOWELL , Associated Press
AP News Archive Jan. 10, 1985 3:42 PM ET
ST. LOUIS (AP) _ Monica Jones said Thursday she was more angry than afraid when she rushed to the aid of a screaming neighbor girl, pointed a shotgun at a man who had allegedly ripped off the youngster's clothes, and warned: ''Stay put or I'll shoot.''

''You don't think about getting hurt,'' Ms. Jones, a mother of three, said in an interview. ''If someone is getting hurt, I can't close my door.''

Police credit Ms. Jones' quick action with preventing the 12-year-old girl from being raped.

''She's a heroine,'' said police Capt. Robert Richters. ''She did an outstanding job - simply outstanding.''

But Ms. Jones, 28, said her actions under the circumstances were only normal.

''I wasn't going to stand back and let this man take this child and do awful things to her,'' she said. ''She wasn't nothing but a baby. If she were my child, I would hope somebody would be there to save her.''

Police said the victim was grabbed at a bus stop in north St. Louis about 7 p.m. Tuesday and dragged into the apartment building where Ms. Jones lives with her three children, ages 2, 8 and 11.

The man ripped off the girl's clothing and tried to rape her, but the girl managed to break loose and run into the hallway, where she was met by Ms. Jones, police said.

''I was talking on the telephone when I heard the screams,'' Ms. Jones recalled. ''I cracked my door and I saw this child butt naked and him half- clothed. I screamed at him to let her go, and he told me to go away.

''She was screaming: 'Please help me 3/8,' '' Ms. Jones said. ''I asked her how old she was. She said she was 12. I knew I had to do something. He was beating the devil out of that little girl.''

At that point, Ms. Jones told her son to get her single-barrel shotgun. She pointed it at the attacker as he tried to drag the girl into his apartment.

''He tried to run off,'' she said. ''I told him not to go anywhere.''

Ms. Jones said she wasn't afraid but admits she didn't know what she was going to do while she waited for police to arrive.

''I knew I wasn't going to let this guy get away,'' she said. ''I've got kids - and this girl could have been one of mine.''

Had he tried to escape, she said, she would have pulled the trigger.

''He got me so mad - I've never been so mad in my life,'' she said. ''He said, 'Lady, you're crazy, you're going to shoot me.' And I told him to stay put or I'll shoot.''

Ms. Jones said she's never used the shotgun, which she purchased about a month ago when a man broke into her apartment.

''I'm afraid for my kids,'' she said. ''I know I will do it again if they come messing with me again.'

The suspect, Leon Fowler, 23, was charged Wednesday with kidnapping and attempted rape.
