my first Seafair race

My Ma worked for Stan Sayers briefly when I was very small. In '56 I swindled a job scrapping Liberty ships. One of the cutters there claimed he'd sold Sayers a surplus Rolls engine. Part of the deal involved a ride in one of the SloMo's. He claimed he crowded into the cockpit on a makeshift seat, barely padded, got one hell of a ride, and finished with a black and blue behind.

Your post brought back memories too....We arrived from the SW to Seattle in 54'....For the next couple of summers, spent family time at the beach much a you did to watch the hydros and picnic... What fun years those were....we all had our little portable radios to listen to the races and the actual real life pictures right in front of our eyes....Real life is always better than TV that's for sure! Those Slo Mo days of Hydro's were something else again....
