Porting is fine for competitive advantage (everyone uses them now) - the game requires 25 shots per game from eight positions. So after 4-5 games you've shot a 100+ rounds - the recoil can add up. Switching to a 20ga has fewer pellets so you have to be more accurate to score and the recoil is really about the same. I've shot against one old man using a .410 and he still beat me - some folks are really good.

I only own one ported shotgun - a Benelli Super Sport - beautiful gun with some high tech recoil dampening.
