I guess I would nominate "Qi" as the prototypical crackpot idea. Magical money. Maybe that's a better name. Qi is a bit over-worked. It's still very much in prototype form and I take it that since you didn't mention a failure mechanism, you don't have one. Since it's just in cryptic form, it's a puzzle why you'd even think it crackpot? I'm confident it will come to be. There has already been a half-baked attempt, bitcoin. When it came out, I thought "Oh no, somebody has beaten me to it". But after a brief consideration, it's a nice start, like the steam engine as a means of propulsion for vehicles, but it's not going to be the lingua franca of financial relativity theory on the monetary super highway. I put it down to the fact that nearly everything people do is based on existing things and ideas using well practised rule of thumb with limited insight into how everything really works. <Over decades I have grown very accustomed to nearly everyone lacking enough… Yes, I'm sure that you have. That could be due to your sky-high IQ, > It has nothing to do with me, it's to do with them and how they see the world. My wonderful new magical money is well beyond them. They don't have any clue how regular fiat money works, and faulty ideas about basic barter such as gold-based money and prices in general. So my amazingly fantastic magical money will be like the Theory of Relativity to them. But they'll love it all the same. They don't have to understand how mobile Cyberspace works to use it and love it. Same thing. Yes, shooting escapees in the back is evil incarnate and just what the East Germans did at the Berlin Wall. TJ says he thinks it's okay to protect India from people escaping from China. < I also have a distaste and outright scorn for the Communist Party of China, with the same breadth and depth as I held for the former Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pack nations. > [sic - Warsaw Pact though they were a pack of nations]. China was previously run by engineers but the new and improved China is run by people who are proudly not engineers. I suspect the engineers were better. I'm so sure that democracy as normally used is a beter idea than the CCP. Tradable Citizenship would of be better, with a constitution that gives votes per tax unit paid [that's a half-baked idea but not necessarily crackpot] plus 1 vote per citizenship. Mqurice
