It's fascinating to see the rebirth of Aztec culture in Hong Kong and Oz in the early stages of the 21st century. As predicted a decade ago by your resident sooth-sayer - $2000 an ounce would be when confidence is collapsing in US$ and the political enactors of wastrel electorates and at that time a gold culture would blossom.

While there is a bit of room to go, from $1,727 to $2,000, it is but a blip in the course of inflationary history from $19 an ounce to $1,900 per ounce over hundreds of years [with the main increase being over just a few decades]: nma.org

But the Aztecs were over-run by modernity. The modern Aztecs will experience the same.

Good luck, Jay. Hope all works out.

Hendry's point is that holding miners is insane if the jurisdiction is not utterly stable, I.e., not klepto.

The Gold Report | February 2, 2013

HD:
For two years, gold has been trading between $1,520/ounce (oz) and $1,800/oz. If gold breaks above $1,800/oz, the next target is $1,934/oz (the past high), and then a new all-time high is likely between $2,030–2,080/oz. If it gets that high, we would advise people to take their gains in gold. However, I think gold is likely to fall to $750/oz in the next two to three years, maybe even lower.
