Actually the process doesn't work when one party doesn't even try to follow the basic rules of our Republic.

Then they have the gall to say that the other party is at fault for not being reasonable.

Do you think having a "balanced" budget is reasonable? Or do you think that it is unreasonable to even propose one.

Forcing the Democrats to propose a budget would at the very least force them to focus on finding a solution.
I would support solutions similar to what you have mentioned before.
SS needs to be modified as demographics change.

The process doesn't work when one party is elected based on the premise that government is the problem, and then proves it by passing a budget that is clearly not anywhere close to realistic.

It was realistic a few years ago. There is no reason the federal government couldn't cut back, at a time when the people it is governing have. 3.5 TRILLION DOLLARS ought to be enough for anyone.

Your premise is not true. In our history compromise has been the rule not the exception. The party that refuses to pass a budget or return a piece of legislation in order to begin the process of compromise has not done what it was elected to do.

The House GOP is representing its constituents... What exactly is the Senate achieving ? Obama and Reid have amassed $5.5 Trillion with nothing to show for it and the real devastation is just now starting to show up with the start of Ocare.

Can't see how what Ryan put together can be called unrealistic when the Senate has failed to present page 1 and, after Trillions of crony capitalism, we still have a shrinking economy.

What do you find unrealistic about this
  • Cuts government spending to protect hardworking taxpayers;

  • Tackles the drivers of our debt, so our troops don’t pay the price for Washington’s failure to take action;

  • Restores economic freedom and ensures a level playing field for all by putting an end to special-interest favoritism and corporate welfare

  • Reverses the President’s policies that drive up gas prices, and instead promotes an all-of the-above strategy for unlocking American energy production to help lower costs, create jobs, and reduce dependence on foreign oil.

  • Strengthens health and retirement security by taking power away from government bureaucrats and empowering patients instead with control over their own care;

  • Reforms our broken tax code to spur job creation and economic opportunity by lowering rates, closing loopholes, and putting hardworking taxpayers ahead of special interests.

At its core, this plan of action is about putting an end to empty promises from a bankrupt government and restoring the fundamental American promise: ensuring our children have more opportunity and inherit a stronger America than our parents gave us.
