I continue to be confused by your disregard for the conventions consistently applied in this thread. We have been in several discussions in which the differences in the techniques and attributes of Day Traders, Position Traders, etc. There are other distinctions that can be made, but these are the only 2 that apply to this thread.

You apparently have a dislike for labels, but labels provide a very useful landmark against which to gauge yourself.

This thread, by it's consistent use, has chosen "Day Trader" to indicate a person that trades within one day, closing all positions by the close. (Very consistently the close by end of day 'rule' has been applied by the regulars)

A "Position Trader" takes more interest in understanding the underlying security (should at least expend more energy on it) and holds it overnight or longer.

We all understand that there are many shades of gray between white and black. However, the landmarks white and black provide a good starting point in determining your relative position.

Few people are pure "Day Trader" and few are pure "Position Trader". But are somewhere in between.

Lets get back to discussing things that can make money, rather than spend time on semantics.

Ira

Don: I day trade full time. In my mind daytrading involves closing all positions by the close. Position trading involves everything else.

Cheers!
