We should immediately cease funding for pharmaceuticals except those used in emergency room and other certain situations. Long term funding medicating chronic problems is insane. Health care picked up by governments should be very minimal emergency type stuff. That's what are system is best at anyway.

Well, I do advocate for Clinton era spending but I don't know how we're gonna get there.

First, Social Security is designed to be a paygo system. Current taxes pay current retirees. The money we paid in is supposed to have been spent already. We have no claim to benefits.

So start by fixing the inheritance tax: 100% of a person's estate should be taxable up to the amount of Social Security / Medicare / Medicaid / Social Security Disability Income. The proceeds go to keeping the fund from going bankrupt. 100% of any estate over that amount would be tax free. The banking / trust fund / foundation industry would whine, but it would benefit society. Since most inheritances are generally spent withing 18 months of receipt, it would stimulate the economy. Other businesses would thrive and everyone (else) would be better off.

No department needs a 10% annual increase in spending once Obama's deficits are eliminated. That includes defense.

Eliminate welfare. That would balance the budget in the first year.

I really think the U.S. needs to concentrate on Technical Schools where people can learn a Trade.

If you want to do that fine. What are you going to do to make American laborers competitive in the world market? Could we eliminate the minimum wage all at once or would we have to reduce it gradually knowing that it would delay the full effects of productivity?

I employ a couple of 22 and 23 year old "coders". Both self-taught, and have been writing scripts/code since age 9. High School educated, no college. Both will make over 100k this year. Their friends come in to apply for a job after graduating USCD with a four-year degree. They have no marketable skills to our company.

My coders claim that their field changes so fast, that mainstream educational institutions can not adapt fast enough.

In their field, it is a bit like Common Sense.

You can not teach someone Common Sense.

For software..You were either born with the tenacity and problem solving skills.. Or you weren't. No amount of 50K a year in college classes can teach someone those skill sets to be a exceptional software developer.
