NetUSA Announces I-Phone Product - I-TALK, Talk Over the Internet PR Newswire - December 03, 1997 21:16 NTSA %CPR %MLM V%PRN P%PRN MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Dec. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- NetUSA (OTC Bulletin Board: NTSA) is pleased to announce a joint venture agreement with A-PRO, the leading I-Phone producer, to jointly develop and market an Internet phone system branded name I-TALK. I-TALK is a powerful device that, when plugged into any PC's printer port, allows users to make Internet phone calls easily and efficiently. With a built-in DSP ASIC chip, I-TALK handles compression and decompression, allowing the PC CPU to bypass those operations and continue to operate at high efficiency, unaffected by the device. Furthermore, I-TALK does not occupy IRQ or DMA. The device can thus be externally managed without interfering with internal multimedia cards that handle audio and visual tasks. I-TALK is also bundled with one Hi-Fi stereo hook-on headset with microphone attachment. I-TALK supports both peer-to-pear I-phone as well as I-phone-to-regular phone calls. NetUSA will set up a switch center that allows all I-TALK users around the world to dial out to any regular PSTN phone system. With NetUSA's existing phone-to-phone via Internet technology, these new services will completely cover the next generation of IP-phone system. NetUSA should thus be competitive against major telecommunication carriers, thanks to NetUSA's low-cost international voice, fax, and data services to its global customers. "Through this agreement, we will have a greatly expanded customer base, which will use I-TALK to make phone calls through our NetUSA switch center. A-PRO benefits in that its customers will have full telecommunication access in more than 800 cities globally. It is a very powerful alliance," said Dr. Wun C. Chiou, Sr., the President of NetUSA. NetUSA is a public company with three business divisions: Software, Web Center and NetUSA Telecommunications. NetUSA's Telecommunications Division operates Global Access, Interfaxing, and I-phoning, allowing inexpensive worldwide communications and connectivity. A-PRO, a Taiwanese corporation, owned and operates Asian Pages marketing business in addition to its engineering activities. It's headquarters in 5F, No. 35, Sec 1, Chein Kuo N. Rd., Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C. (886-2-731-5579) SOURCE NetUSA /CONTACT: investors, Nelson Lu of NetUSA, 415-948-6200, ext. 112, or nlu@netusa.com/ /Web site: netusa.com (NTSA)
