*OT* IBM for one was really generous back in the '80's before the 'stuff' hit the fan, as they allowed us to institute 401k's in addition to our defined benefit plan, and they still put in a matching contribution. Also, if your spouse worked for the firm, your medical benefits were paid under something called 'coordination of benefits', which basically meant 100% coverage for any charges we had, in addition to the fact that in those days IBM picked up the coverage in FULL!!! When I think back, we really had a good deal, kind of the 'golden age' of corporate benefits.... Different world today. And don't get me started on college costs <ggg>. I went to a good school at 3k per year, and that was covered by Pell grants and scholarships!!! What a gift in retrospect....

Best regards,
John
