Paul: Your conclusion is something I have been hinting at. Gold has always been a political and economic symbol. In the name of "National Security", or some other equally sounding patriotic phrase, all things are possible, even confiscation. But that is extreme; that the government requires registration suggests information, controls, reports, etc. Actual confiscation can be achieved without actually grabbing it. Laws could be passed, requiring redemptions only through govt. agencies etc. etc. Price control, control of movement and ownership.

But none of this will happen unless a total financial collapse occurs and gold is the only alternative. If or when that happens is conjecture. An interesting possibility, but one which also implies a plan or "conspiracy". I remind you again that gold ownership has not always been legal in the U.S.A.

Regards
Phil

PBM-- I have only heard of taking that kind of info if there is a lot of "bogus" money being passed. I think you need a new coin dealer.

<<Anyway, I guess they were afraid I was cornerign the market. Because they got my ss #, name, adress, driver's license #, etc. I asked why and they said they have to report it to the govt.>>
Never bought any at banks (Canadian), always buy at coin shop - same price. Pay cash - and the bill is made out to Mr.Cash Sale. Works for me. BTW, for Canadians - buy Maple Leafs; no GST.
