That's a great testimonial.

I was under the impression that the guy was ordered to exit his vehicle by the officer. Must be wrong.

And here is my experience....not a good one.

I was on a surveillance a few years ago. Sitting across a road, stream and tucked neatly into a vacant industrial lot with a full view of the subject's position.

A local LEO came up behind me lights a flashing.

he walks up an announces that I'm trespassing. I asked if he had a complaint from the owner....no response.

He wants license and registration. Of course I'm parked so there cannot be a traffic violation.

I hand over those documents.

He runs the info and returns asking if I have have a weapon in the car.

I say, Yes/

He steps back screaming ....where is it?

I begin to talk and he unsnaps.

this is not comforting.

I scream....stand down.

he yells I'm protecting myself.

I say....../from what?

where is the gun...?

in the map pocket.

he begins to try to open the door but It's locked...he begins to try to open it from the inside...I tell him I"ll get it....

he places his hand on the grip

I scram......stand down.

I open the door and he grabs my new...K40

Now it gets unbelievable.....

interrogation time

whey didn't you tell me you had a gun.....you didn't ask

show me your permit....OOOOOOOOOOOOoooooK

I also handed him "FOP I"m a good guy card"

he yells are you telling me your a retired police officer......

Oh shit....... this goes on for a few more minutes and he finally quiets down....

then he tells me the gun is not registered to me........fortunately I had the sales papers.....

seem PA doesn't actually get your data on line for about a month after you buy a hand gun.

of course he let me drive away with the gun.......

I faxed the info to his chief the next day and called.....the chief started to laugh and said the guy needs some rough edges smoothed out......

I made no comment.

Shootie

Nice job, Farmboy......looked to me like both sides could have work to do on their "act"....the driver kept talking about all times he had been "through this".....he needs to figure out why he is a cop magnet and as you suggested learn how to act in a manner that draws far less attention.

The officer clearly lit the sweat pumps too quickly.....and from a personal point of view, if the gun actually worried me in the least, I'd been dipped boiling oil before I would have left it on the man's hip while walking around to the other side of the van.....leaving a perceived threat in an accessible position comes across as far from sensible.

I'm calling a Barney Fife on the officer.

Heading south myself fairly soon......not looking forward to the Illinois portion of the trip.....probably will break my carry down and separate the pieces while going through there.....will not have a trunk to put it in.
