Glen, your post contained interesting info about ability of low cost Pentium II to emulate modem to enable sub $1000 PCs with modems - something that competitors CPUs do not do. Gary, It appears INTC is always one step ahead of the competition. They also do a good job of PR:-) Glenn

Gary,

How about this line in the post -

the transition to Pentium II was going as fast as expected. ''The price cuts were supported by reductions in production costs,''

Bodes well for high margins, doesn't it?

Barry

Guys - Straighten me out on this one. I was under the impression that the Cyrix chip CPQ uses on their 799 machine has audio and modem functions integrated and has been out there for some time now.

Thanks,
John
