I can't believe the 12 mil. either. At worst 12 million households. I believe 25 + mil. homes by 2008 counting dishes.

I do know, having worked in the world of analog and digital, there is absolutely no comparison between analog and digital. Think of analog as being an aproximation of something while digital is an exact replica. With digital, using error correction algorithms, a signal that has been corrupted with noise during the transmission, can be corrected back to the original signal. You can't do that with analog. The benefits will far outweigh the cost considerations and the cost will come down because it will be very successful. Taking a digital signal and coverting back into an analog signal is taking something that is pure and corrupting it. Take music--is the sound better off of a record (analog) or a CD (digital)--there isn't any comparison.
