Kai-Uwe, I wouldn't be too concerned about CPQ/Tandem playing
catchup with NT.
I maintained an 8 processor Tandem CLX (now upgraded to an Himalya)
system for a number of years. Tandems Transaction monitoring,
and other fail-safe systems are without equal.

They were already transitioning from their Guardian operating sytem
to Unix and NT, before CPQ bought them out.

With CPQ to keep their heads (management) straight, we are looking
at a dynamite combination.
(My own opinion)

What are your thoughts on starting a "Compaq Company - News Only"
thread ?

I regularly get CPQ and MNPI news from "MY Yahoo", and would like
to share this news.
Example biz.yahoo.com

Regards,
MM

Kai - Paydirt?

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 3, 1997--US
semiconductor maker, Ramtron International Corporation (NASDAQ:RMTR),
announced today an initial $650K order for its 4-megabyte (MB)
enhanced dynamic random access memory (EDRAM(R)) modules, from a
leading US-based supplier of networks and communications systems.
The EDRAM modules, developed and marketed by its wholly owned
subsidiary, Enhanced Memory Systems, Inc. (Enhanced), are being used
for voice processing in a high-end voice messaging system targeted at
Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOC). Initial EDRAM module
production shipments began in November.
The 4MB EDRAM memory modules provide competitive performance at
lower cost and power than equivalent SRAM modules. EDRAM is popular
in communications and digital signal processing (DSP) systems that
require a combination of SRAM performance and low production costs.
In addition, the fast latency of EDRAM is desirable for
communications switching, DSP, disk caching and embedded computer
systems applications.
"Our 4-megabit EDRAM continues to be a cost effective alternative
to SRAM," said Craig Rhodine, Enhanced's vice president and general
manager. "This order underscores our belief in the growth
opportunity for EDRAM in communications systems applications."
Ramtron/Enhanced Memory Systems, Inc.
Enhanced Memory Systems develops and markets the EDRAM(R) and
ESDRAM, high performance specialty memories that combine fast DRAM
and SRAM on one chip (patents pending). Enhanced is headquartered in
Colorado Springs, Colorado and is a wholly owned subsidiary of
Ramtron International Corporation (NASDAQ:RMTR).

ESDRAM products, contact: Communications Department, Enhanced Memory
