Seems much harder to get ahead for the average Joe there now than ever before. Just a very different world than places where cost of living are still reasonable..


Well population growth has slowed in CA.......then again it has nearly 40 million people.........and in migration from east of the Rockies has pretty much dried up. So the higher cost of living is having an impact.

Better to move to a less expensive area near a major metro area than some small backward low cost town with limited job opportunities. You seem to have those in California these days and you don't have to go to a ghetto, barrio or telecommute from Boise like during the bubble.... In FL there are some fabulous buys under $50k in suburbs of the Tampa area. If you saw pics of these old ranch 'shacks' they look a lot like the $500k+ ones you see in Torrance
