re: Short Interest. I believe the 3,624,304 number is the short interest as of Oct 15. The Nov 14 number (most recent) is 4,471,949. This is 15.6 percent of 28,573,000. But I think the average daily volume's relationship to short interest may be more relevant. A small sampling: Cymi's short interest divided by avg vol= 3.08 Amat=.46 Etec=.54 Svgi=1.42 Asmlf=.15 Pria=.25 I do find this worrisome because I don't understand why it should be so. I like the convertible bond theory, but why aren't the short's covering now at these prices? I guess it's possible that several million shares could be slowly oozing out from the shorts since mid-Nov, but looking at the volume I don't believe it. Has anyone seen this sort of situation before? Any viable hypotheses? This is my first post. I am long Cymi @ 27.

The 6+ million shares of float that the thread has been talking about are the estimated number of "free trading" shares or those shares not held by insiders. It is an imprecise figure and doesn't relate to the technical calculation of all shares not restricted by SEC rules which yields the 24 million figure. The 6 million probably approximates the "real" figure unless insiders start selling.
