I had looked at Moody's before as well based on the Buffett / Greenblatt investments.

I was leaning more toward MHP because I think it's a bit cheaper -- this was before the DoJ litigation, but even more now notwithstanding the ??? liability from the eventual settlement(s).

Plus some other smaller items:
+ S&P Ratings has some room for margin improvement vis a vis Moody's Ratings
+ Potential for meaningful share gains with the Capital IQ business vs. FactSet, Thomson Reuters, et. al. (if you've ever used any of them, you'll know what I mean)
+ The Indices business is phenomenal, although it is lower margin so tends to cloudy the WholeCo financials a bit

Anyway, both nice companies that will regain their shine after these issues are forgotten in the cobwebs of history.
