I disagree with you, but I see no point to argue further since I have no bone in this fight. I won't invest in MHP at current prices anyway (I may relook if it drops significantly from here). And I don't see why I should try to change your mind if you are convinced that your investment thesis is good.

Not impossible for there to be other suits against these rating agencies such as a class action by underwater home owners and bond investors who make the case that these manipulated triple a ratings on questionable paper is really what led to the real estate bubble to begin with. Never underestimate the creativity of class action lawyers. This is the kind of stuff that can lead companies into chapter 11.

The free speech argument when you are getting paid for a government mandate expert opinion aint gonna carry much weight in my view.
