I believe at the time they bracketed that concept with the overall perspective of the intelligence that was available.

Powell, as well as everyone involved to this day, continues to assert that they acted on the available intelligence. In fact, of all the people who were informed at the time, only Democrats have run away from the invasion.

The reality is that any intelligent person looking at the facts understands the Iraq invasion had to happen. Some will argue otherwise from now on, but what we were doing just wasn't working and Saddam & his family were going to be a problem for years to come. They had to be removed.
