I dont think we disagree. I was laying out why I think management has a motive to keep excess amounts of cash on the balance sheet.

Personally, I think it would be in shareholder best interests to be far more aggressive in returning their cash (true for almost every tech company). I agree that dividends and buybacks are the way to go. As a general rule, I am a fan of KISS....and a preferred stock offering certainly isnt the simplest path.
